Object snap for CPlane crossing

#1

I would like to see an Object Snap to the intersection of an object (curve, surface, polysurface) with the CPlane. I know that there are workarounds like creating a surface on the Cplane and creating an intersecting curve, but I feel a need for a more direct way.

Hi Max- it does not help anyone now, but something like this is in the works for V6 (Windows) - I don’t know when it will get to the mac. There is a new ‘IPlane’ (InfinitePlane) feature that can be invoked any time a plane is needed- this can be set to the current CPlane, or any of a variety of existing or user defined planes.

Hi Pascal - that is great, but you would still need a method to snap to the intersection of such IPlane with another object. Right now it is easy enough to move the Cplane around and restrict any new points or objects to it, but you cannot easily latch on to other objects crossing the CPlane.

Correct, you’d need to make intersection points with the IPlane before there was any useful snap.
