Obj export has many meshes is it ok to group for texture and sections?

Hi, for some reason agisoft is creating many meshes for an obj export of my model.
turn off export texture and get one mesh. so its in texture is the issue.
AI says:-
2. Texture Atlas Settings If you are exporting with textures, Metashape may be generating multiple textures and, consequently, splitting the mesh to align with those texture files.Solution: In the “Build Texture” dialog, check your settings. Ensure you are not forcing an excessive number of texture files.Alternative: Try exporting without textures first to see if it results in one mesh. If so, the issue is with the texture atlas generation.

precision 6 gives 8, 10 gave 4.
Just thought group the meshes in Rhino then I can select object and do SetObjectDisplayMode rendered.
it worked, but will this bite me in the bum later on when doing sections and so on ?

IS THIS GROUPING OK TO DO ?

I would probably find that decimate would solve it, but I need fine detail for fine detail objects on it, and decimate removes detail, if only it decimated smooth areas.

They have yet to introduce decimation where it doesnt hurt mode.

One day we will look back to 2026 and think why did we put up with such primitive methods back then.

Perhaps if we could paint the areas to be protected then decimate.

I dont want to destroy the detail I need so as to get the file size down.

Rhino5 took 1m34sec save and rhino 8 12 secs.
I am trying to use V8 for meshes as quicker.

I establish 7,000,000 faces is ok below that detail suffers.
I export with that and get 8 mesh tick boxes when selecting the obj after import.

So what now ?
