In my experience, the nudge tooltip distance display will disappear if you click the left mouse button while the cursor is anywhere on the drawing canvas. Once it has gone, you can run other commands without it interfering with them.
Hopefully that will make it even easier to live with…
Or you can turn it off completely in Options, as shown earlier.
