Novice Struggling with fillet errors

Hi rhino experts!

I hope to solve a fillet issue that i’m struggling with currently, there’s 4 different sides that can’t be fillet for some reason and i’ve tried to use pipe-blendsrf method as well which failed for me.

your model is quite a mess, that does not look like it was made in Rhino and if, you did a good job in trying to avoid modelling like one would usually do in Rhino.

all your surfaces are facetted like cracy, and the surfaces of the main vessel are additionally very complex. i would intersect a cut plane to get a section, clean up the curves by joining and rebuilding non uniform for instance, be sure to separate the straight parts before you do that (also use the command SimplifyCrv after you joined the straight curves since even these are facetted) and join that back in later. then revolve and rebuild the indentations the same way.

the reason why these remaining do not work is because your surface edges are running very close to it.

that will fail of course. so lots of cleaning up to do but honestly i would just rebuild it from scratch using revolve for instance.

ah i see… i was given this from my superior and they said to adjust for an intern guy… so i have no clue how this model made… but i agree with one thing, he has one hell of a brain to create a mess haha.

ok to summarize, i should basically rebuild after duplicating a specific line that’s straight enough for revolve to get the main body shape built, then redo the rest and try filetting again?

yes if your curve consists of a continuous curve besides the straight parts above and below or you round these and have one single curve even, you end up with a single surface that is much easier to work with.

ah i see… thanks for your help!
