Thanks a lot @John_Brock for helping me: I don’t see anything wrong with my settings… Is there a place where to change the point/pivot somewhere else?

I’m trying to duplicate the effect here to understand the problem, so THEN I can help.
Can I imply from your reply that you you have NOT been messing with Appearance > Color settings?
Does this happen in all default display modes like Wireframe, Shaded, Rendered, Ghosted, etc.?
