My object is black. Sun and Skylight are on and I have a spotlight on one side yet the object is black with no lighting.

My problem seems to connected to “layers”. I changed the color in the default window and my object is no longer black but even after choosing the default material the object does not go back to the original gray. I did a copy/paste into another window and all is well.
