Newbe problem with Layers

I am working through the Rhino Users Guide.

Capter 14; Headfhone
I have problems to understand the Layers feature.
One Layer “Headfhone” is marked with “V” , I want to make that layer invisible but dont know how to do that.
Besides that, what makes that layer look different from the other layers

Hi Herman- the ‘V’ is a check mark that indicates the layer is the active, current layer. It can not be locked or hidden but other layers can be controlled by clicking on the lightbulb and lock icons. See Help for more info on layers:
