New UI: Layer column name scale

Hi All
OK, so the title might be misleading, but I don’t know what the little boxes indicating current, on/off, locked etc. are called, but…
In V7, when you scale the width all the down, the text disappears, which is nice - looks clean and unobtrusive.
In V8 I’m left with CuOnLoCoLayer
Can we have the blanks back? (Pretty please )
