(New to Rhino) Help! - Surfaces do not align after offsetting them, how do I solve the problem?

Hello, I’m new to Rhino and encountered this problem that the surfaces do not align after I offset them.

Here’s what I did

  1. Create the surface
  2. Project gridlines onto the surface to obtain the
  3. Extrude the curves for thickness
  4. Offset the surfaces from the extrusion

Is there something that I am not doing right? Please advice thanks!

Project gridlines onto the surface to obtain the ???

What is not aligned as you expected?

Hi Glen- I’m not sure where the problem is but I suspect that what you want is for the extrusions to end at a offsets of the original base surfaces, is that correct?
Like this?

ah yes that was what I was trying to achieve. sorry if my information has been unclear

Hi Glen - one way would be:

  • Make the full grid as 2d on the CPlane, with offsets as you like them,
  • Extrude these curves through offsets of the target surface
  • select extrusions, target and offset and CreateSolid
