New Rhino Radial Menu- So Good!

I do have something very similar where you can assign a shortcut for switching between the app-specific menu and the main one.
Do this cover your need?

I had the program uninstalled since a few days and just downloaded it again to try the setting you mentioned, however, now I can’t find a way to open it. Do you have any suggestions? It’s not included in the Start menu, but is inside of the Windows apps list. Weird.

Edit. I was able to open the Radial menu from the Microsoft store, by clicking on the blue “Open” button. Only then I was offered a short tutorial and then the program is listed in the Start menu.

However, after importing my saving settings the shortcuts written in Bulgarian alphabet are now rendered by random symbols. Upon clicking on the custom button that previously had a shortcut to a folder written in Bulgarian alphabet, it opens the folder where the Radial menu’s settings are stored instead.
I just deleted the shortcut button and made a new one, and it works properly this time. But for some reason most of the time it opens the folder in a smaller window, whereas all default folders in English open maximized. Less often, it opens the Bulgarian folder maximized, but in the background instead of giving it a focus in the foreground. It’s random.

The settings for running the Radial menu were not restored either.

Also, the settings for the custom colours of the menu were not restored and remain white by default.

Every time when I run the Radial menu it opens in the edit mode and I have to click on the pen in the center to close it.

I suggest to make it possible to fine adjust the colours via the arrow keys, similar to what’s used in Paint NET. Also, it may help to add input sliders for RGB values, just like what’s used in Rhino, because the RGB system is commonly used by the Windows users today.

am i doing anything wrong here or am i limited to the pro version to assign commands? really cool thing but man thats annoying why not make it a limited trial period instead 1 week maybe?

i know its dirt cheap but i want to try the product before i buy it

The issue with folders not opening in their previous state is hard to reproduce.
It might be a bug in the app.
I have tried to make some folders/files in bulgarion alphabet, but can’t reproduce the issue.
I’ll try some more later.

Settings are not stored in the save file. That is by design. It could perhaps be useful to be able to save settings as well. I may include that in the future.

Very strange that your app launches with edit mode enable.
When you restart your machine it should run the app with the “StartHidden” argument.
You could try to run the exe file with the StartHidden arg and see if that does work.Just run cmd → “C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\14914FroltSoftware.RadialMenu_1.18.0.0_x64__v5vt3srnrv4et\radial_menu.exe” StartHidden

Free version has the following “functional” limitations.

  1. Max 3 macro buttons
  2. No additional menus (so no app-specific menus, only main)
  3. No cloud stuff (download/upload)

Yeah I agree that it’s not ideal to have to purchase something before trying it out.
It might be hard to implement since Microsoft Store doesn’t support trials for in app-purchases.
I’ll look into it.

Any suggestions how to solve my problem (described earlier)?

I have the latest Nvidia rtx quadro studio drivers installed, but cannot find a way to make transparency work in radial menu.

Please do I’ll see what the others think maybe I’ll be convinced to buy

Very nice development,

May you please show " how to edit root shell" (the first inner radial icons and their commands) like second outer you demonstrated.

I had one other user with the same problem.
It worked fine on his win11 PC but not on win10.
After he updated the graphics driver it worked.

I’m not sure of the root cause tbh.
All I can recommend is to double check windows update + windows update optional drivers.
Then open your NVIDIA app and see if it has the latest version (you did that already though).

Try launching the app with the “–enable-software-rendering“ flag to determine if your graphics drivers are the issue. This will use CPU to render instead of GPU.

Open CMD and run:
"C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\14914FroltSoftware.RadialMenu_1.18.0.0_x64__v5vt3srnrv4et\radial_menu.exe" --enable-software-rendering

Do you think trying the latest feature drivers (typically newer than the studio versions) might help?

P.S.:I will try the “enable software rendering” later today

If it works with the --enable-software-rendering that means the issue lies with the GPU driver.
So yeah, if that is the case, it can be worth trying the “latest feature drivers”.
But it should be fine to always run it with the --enable-software-rendering flag

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but editing the inner circle should be exactly the same as the outer. Make sure you are in edit mode → click the button, or you can right click → edit.

Just fyi:

I tried to run radial menu from CMD with “–enable-software-rendering“ flag, but this didn’t have any effect on the transparency problem.

Alright, then it’s not GPU drivers that is the issue.
Could you try the following:

  • Change the display scale (maybe 100% or 125%)
  • Disable “optimization for games”
Go to: windows settings → system → display → graphics.
Click “add microsoft store app” to give radial menu app custom settings.
Try to tweak these settings a bit and see if it helps.

If that doesn’t work I’m pretty much out of ideas, beside upgrading (if you can call it that) to windows 11 :stuck_out_tongue:

I am on windows 11 pro

as a 30+ year CAD professional user im so convinced you will find this app helpful I will reimburse you the cost of the app myself if you dont like it. Install it and run it for a few weeks until its use is second nature. remember to customise the app to your liking by adding your own macros to get the most out of it. I’m confidant you will be pleasantly surprised at the fluidly it brings to your Rhino user experience.

I tried that command, but it returned the following message:
“Access is denied.”

Hi ! Thank you for this presentation. Am I dumb or whatever, but I don’t understand how to insert Rhino command in my Radial Menu. I haven’t buy it for now but I want to try with a few commands. Can you explain it ?
Thank you !
