New Method of Creating Hatches in Aircraft

This new methods of creating Opening, Hatch, Lip, Pad, Pillar, etc. is much more efficient and less prone to error. It was inspired by Pascal of Rhino Support.

Begin with a 2-d representation of the Hatch. Offset outward by 0.1 mm to create a 2-d representation
Hatches.3dm (2.7 MB)
of the Opening.

Offset this curve by 2 mm inward and outward to create a 2-d representation of the Lip.

Create a rectangle connecting the points that center for the fasteners to create a 2-d representation of the Wing Box.

Copy the Outer Surface to Default. Extrude the 2-d representation of the Opening and trim the Outer Surface to create the Opening. Change Object Layer to Outer Surface With Opening.

Copy Outer Surface to Default. Extrude 2-d representation of the Hatch and trim the Outer Surface to create the Hatch surface. Offset Surface inward 1 mm to create the Hatch. Change Object Layer to Hatch.

Copy Outer Surface to Default. Extrude 2-d representation of the Lip and Trim the Outer Surface to create the Lip Surface. Move surface 1 mm inward and Offset Surface 1.5 mm to create the Lip. Change Object Layer to Lip.

Project center points for hatch fasteners on Outer Surface. Create lines normal to points on Outer Surface. Create Cylinders Around Curve (line) at points 3 mm towards inside. Trim Cylinders with 1 mm OffsetSrf of Outer Surface. Change Object Layer to Pads.
