New licence and Rhino WIP?

Hello,

I couldn’t find an answer so please merge or delete the topic if this was answered already.

So I’m looking to purchase a new licence and I’m assuming it is for R8. However, I see that I can download Rhino WIP here (https://www.rhino3d.com/download/rhino/wip/) so can I buy a licence for this version or if I buy one that is for R8, will it transfer over ?

Hi MetalFingerz,

The only license available for purchase is Rhino 8. This license will give you access to previous versions of Rhino and the work in progress (Rhino 9 WIP)

Once Rhino 9 is listed for sale you would need to purchase an upgrade (the first 3 months after release has a significant upgrade discount)

We do announce a few months ahead of the release to prevent purchasing Rhino 8 right before the turnover.

Would you have a rough idea when R9 could be released ? I do not absolutely need it right now so I can wait a bit if the release is soon enough (this year for example)

Yes, rough target is late this year. Rhino 8 was released November 2023 and the overall goal is to release every 3 yrs
