I’m using Rhino 9 WIP and learning a lot. I like the new CONCEPT Named View, but was wondering about something. I would like to thicken the silhouette outline around the part a bit, yet I see no control toggle to do this. Is there something that I’m missing?

“Concept” is a technical display mode. Those are fundamentally different from the “regular” display modes such as Wireframe, Shaded, and Ghosted.
If you are after the “somewhat transparent” look of Ghosted, you can apply materials that have some transparency to the objects and use Concept.

I’m enjoying this new display mode and excited to learn that it is a technical mode. That said, I just tried printing a quick test model and discovered that in “vector” print mode, the shading no longer appears and only lines are shown. Is this a limitation of the current rendering engine (or whatever the proper term is)? I would love for there to be a way to export scalable drawings with shading.

It’s a long requested feature that was finally introduced in Rhino 8 - to be able to print to vector output with hidden line removal.
To print details in raster mode while the rest of the layout is in vector, there are currently three options:
TestToggleTechnicalVectorOutput. This will print all details on all pages as raster, though-wim
Hi Wim, thanks for the response. I’m pretty familiar with the purely vector display modes at this point. What would be super welcome is a native, scalable vector display mode that also includes color/shaded surfaces. I realize that, when exported (as a pdf for example), gradients and such would not technically scale and, when zoomed in on, would contain artifacts. But, if the lines remained vector this would produce a much more polished product than a purely raster image which would have pixelated lines. This, I suppose, would be akin to overlaying a Technical style display style (such as Pen) over top of a non technical style display style such as Shaded.

The Concept display mode is interesting. I can see it is somewhat different from Pen, but is there an explanation of why is is useful? Is there a concept about Concept?
