Negative Space Modeling

Hi, im new here in the Forum i wante to ask something.
I have a City Block Modeled in Rhino and i wanted to get the negative space betweeen Buildings.
i was trying with Boolean Operations but something its Wrong

In theory, it should be possible, but all your buildings need to be valid, solid and closed. If even one has a problem, the Boolean operation will likely fail. Here are some Wiki pages with tips on Boolean operations and getting solid models.

Perhaps a long way round to get the volume value you need would be to select all objects and run the BoundingBox command. Do a volume calculation on the bounding box. Then do a volume calc on all the enclosed buildings etc. and subtract that from the total volume of the bounding box.
Of course this would still require the enclosed buildings to be closed solids, but if one of them are not closed it will not bring everything to a halt. You will just get a warning that some selected solids were not enclosed.
You can always do a SelClosedPolysrf before doing everything and fix the non-closed buildings before doing the calc, then all should add up fine. Michael VS

myyess i dont want the calculation i want the outshape form of the space between buildings
