Currently I’m running out of ideas what I could do in my free-time with Rhino. I really like programming and scriptjng in Python, C# and Grasshopper as it creates an endless space and possibilities within Rhino. However, knowing that everything is possibles makes me stuck and un-creative at the moment.
Do you have any ideas or directions on what I could work on the next time? Either easy stuff or really complex problems, that does not really matter, everything can be interesting and makes me exciting.
Rhino would benefit from a command that creates a separate construction plane, independent from the main CPlane, which could be placed anywhere. This would make it much easier to draw perpendicular to a specific point on a surface without affecting the current working CPlane.
To show what I mean, take a look at the workaround I’m currently using.
Or take a look at this example here.
Look at this — if you manage to bring something like this into Rhino, you’re my hero.
The key point is that you can place a CPlane anywhere you want, save it, and then simply select it whenever you need it as the active CPlane.
Once activated, the viewport automatically aligns orthogonally to that plane, allowing you to work and draw in 2D directly on it, while also making it easier to inspect draft angles, undercuts, and other manufacturing-related details.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I’ll eventually take a look at Rhino inside Blender.. Also the 3D pdf looks really cool!
@brvdln I’ve worked something out for you. Search for WPlane ( for working plane) in the package manager. Please let me know if that is what you needed. If not, please tell me what I should change:)
