Named selection for explicit control points?

Hello.

When a named selection created for control points (or edit points), and these control points were deleted, the named selection remains and it selects other control points instead (it seems like it’s index-based selection)

Is there a way create a selection for explicit control points and if they don’t exist then don’t select anything? maybe with a help of usertext or something?

Grips have no persistent identification, this is a known limitation.
I’ve filed a feature request to change that at some point in the future:
