I love it. Works great for me. I use it to create designs for the CNC router, laser and 3D printer. I am so busy using the software I do not have time to write long tomes about how McNeel should change the software. Besides, like I said, it works for me. I have the sneaky hunch it works really well for lots and lots of people. They are too busy to post on here because they are actually creating and doing something.
Nice post.
Thanks for making an exception and taking the time to write a passive-aggressive post towards people who take their free time or take a break from work to describe what problems they encountered while using the program, and suggest some improvements.
Considering that every week we have a report of fixed bugs or added features, we can assume that software development is a never-ending process. People give feedback because they want to use Rhino and want it to develop.
I don’t know if it’s possible to develop a program based on feedback from people who are happy with the status quo.
It seems that people sometimes criticize Rhino too much because they can’t imagine working with any other program, or they would like to get rid of other programs in their lives and switch 100% to Rhino. I could even write that it’s a higher form of “attachment” when you see some flaws, but you want to solve them, discuss them and give time to improve, than when you are 100% happy with the tool, so you just make money.
It’s really great that you’re in a group of people whose business is doing so well that you don’t waste time writing on forums.
I’m probably among the most vocal Rhino users who may seem like someone writing mainly negative feedback about various bugs and lack of functionality. However, I do so because I TRULY LOVE RHINO , and I would love to see it become a more mature program than its current (flawed) state. Talking about negatives of the program is not necessarily a negative thing. It’s called constructive criticism, whose purpose is to express personal opinions and give feedback to the developers about critical weaknesses of the program. Not to mention that me and many Rhino users on the forum propose various ideas how to improve Rhino.
Nice post. I have seen some posts in this forum that come across as if they were written by stroppy teenagers as opposed to (presumably) grown adults working full time, which I find a bit cringe inducing even if the criticism might otherwise be legitimate. But to echo the sentiment of Bobi, it’s important to realise that in most cases those criticising do so because we love - and want Rhino to continue to improve.
Every now and then I take a moment to appreciate not only how versatile and capable Rhino is, but also the extraordinary value for money it is. Perpetual, non-cloud based licences for under 1000 USD? That’s pretty unreal in this day and age, especially when so many other packages out there look something like:
Lite: modelling features, 1 model limit, $2000 a year
Advanced: all features, contact your VAR for a quote
There are improvements and changes I would like to see, sure - but Rhino easily remains my favourite package out of the 5 or 6 that I’ve used in my professional life so far
i find such criticism extremely confrontational and stroppy itself. calling out teenagers but bringing along the same mature attitude does not help you in making your statement any clearer.
i completely agree, but being bugged by a lot of changes most of which happened with the recent version of Rhino it is difficult to lean back and enjoy when many things just worked better before.
I for my part would have never registered here if i would not have encountered one heart striking crucial bug myself which nobody seemed to have noticed for a long time. Once i got hooked into this online platform i unfortunately could never let go, also because some important things kept breaking all the time.
Rhino is a very good versatile software, i really love it, but its a bitter sweet symphony and it does not seem to unbalance itself easily in favour for the better. I am not giving up on it, but ranting about people actually taking (a huge amount of) time to report and clarify bugs here is an absolute no go.
since you obviously took yourself an exceptional break from your busy day to pee on everybody trying to make Rhino better,
you are probably also too busy to help others which come here looking for help, while riding on the fruits of all those (developers included of course) helping in making Rhino the Software you are currently enjoying so much.
if this quick burp to give your ego a little push helps you getting through your busy day, so be it, i for myself find such posts extremely repulsive.
