Moving the railing freezes the display

How to disable direct drawing when we draw or replace a control point of a railing object.

it’s long, very long and not useful. it blocks the display. I don’t need live preview, but I can’t find the option to turn it off.

thank you,

Hi @jmv,

That’s not possible right now. The preview of the railing when moving one of its control points is already a simplified version of the railing, done on purpose in order to gain performance (just notice that the vertical elements are not drawn). Could you share that file so we can test if we get the same lag in the display when moving the railing control points? Also, share a screenshot with the active osnaps you have.

Hello @fsalla
GC.3dm (6.2 MB)

I’m not sure my example can carry much. And I’m sure you know what’s going on.
I’m not a developer but I realize that Rhino regenerates the mesh on every render frame.
This can be seen in particular when zooming in and out. If you don’t move the mouse, everything is fluid, if the move is even 1px there is a lag.

Personally, this preview mode seems useless to me. All I need to move a point is the point and probably the base polyline. The rest gives me nothing more for this step “Move a control point”…

Thanks for the file @kitjmv, we will investigate why there’s some lag when moving the railing control points and fix any issues. I’m not sure if disabling the preview would change much here.
I’ll keep you posted.
