Mouse selection ctrl+shift

I reinstalled Rhino 8… Before the reinstallation, selecting with ctrl+shift+click worked so that when I hovered over the object I wanted to select, nothing happened and I had to click.
After the install, if I just hit ctrl+shift and hover over an object, it will automatically preselects… and I don’t want that because there are sometimes objects that overlap and I need to select one of them and it doesn’t work.
Can someone please advise me how to set it back?
Thank you very much.

Hi Michael -

The default setting is that when you Ctrl+Shift over a poly-object, the subobject will automatically highlight. You then have to click to make the selection. I’m not completely sure if that’s what you are reporting…

You can turn off that behavior with the advanced Rhino.Options.General.MouseOverHighlightSubObjects option. When you then hover over an ambiguous selection with Ctrl+Shift, nothing will happen. When you click, you’ll get the Selection Menu that lets you pick the subobject that you want to select.

how exactly can I run this command?
Should I open Rhino >> settings >> general >> ??? and on?

Hi Michael -

It’s not a command, it’s an option in the “Advanced” section of the Rhino Options:

-wim
