Morphing 2-D Patterns

Here is what’s going on:

1. This is a 2-D drawing so I’m working solely in the top view
   

   

2. I have a pattern (blocks and curves)

3. There is a portion of the pattern that must be interrupted (cut away). The cut is the shape of a a vertical with a circular base.

4. Alongside the perimeter cut, I need to make the surrounding curves “bend down and around (the circular base)” to appear like the curves are responding to the cut
