Modifying imported geometry

Hello all,

Being a relative new comer, I have come across a challenge that I cannot seem to solve. I’ve imported an IGES file into Rhino and would like to make a modification by removing part of the tail of this helicopter model. I’ve trying using the split command and cutting plane but once done, I am not able to select the Helo to complete the command. Please see the screen shot.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can upload the file but it pretty large and thought there might be a simple explanation before doing that.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Rick

Hi Rick - it looks to me like that is a mesh - not what you usually find in an IGES file… At any rate Rhino has some limited tools for dealing with meshes… MeshSplit with a plane that cuts through is probably what you want as far as the split goes.

Thanks Pascal!
