Modeling Screw thread problem

Can some please assist

I have modeled a screw and thread successfully a number of times using the 2 videos that is available which is very easy to follow.

For some unknown reason, I find one of the steps that I used a number of times suddenly does not work and I’m thinking I may have changed one of the default settings by mistake.

When modeling the screw, after I Boolean the thread and the cylinder, I go to fillet edge which is done successfully. What I find in this step is that the fillet edge is not solid and part of the cylinder. I can click piece of the fillet edge and delete it which should not happen.

Please help as I at a lost as to why this worked before a when I did this step a number of times and now it does not.

Thanks

are you using the option Trim and Join in _FilletEdge?

…or maybe you’re using _FilletSrf instead of FilletEdge?

Hi Jeff

No Jeff I was not. I followed the video step by step. I found the problem after sitting with this for about 2 hours. I’m pretty new at this.

The cylinder dimensions I used previously when I followed the tutorial was larger than my revised dimension.
I’m using small radius in millimeters when drawing the cylinder so a “.250” makes a big difference. I should have adjusted the fillet edge values to a small number as this overlap resulted in the fillet edge separating from cylinder or at least that’s what appeared to have happened. My fillet edge remained 1 mm for all cylinders size I used but I had to go to .250 mm when I drew a smaller cylinder which had a Diameter of 5.330 mm and length of 10 mm. This solved my problem.

Thank you
