I’ve seen numerous longtime requests for Rhino to include a better perspective match tool like fSpy.
Just curious what people are using in the meantime. Do I need to use Blender for blockout modeling from a photo, and then import that into Rhino? Or are there some other tricks I haven’t found?
the picture command is how to get a photo to image into rhino, then go to the materials panel where you can make it slightly transparent to make it easier to model over.
Hi Kyle! I’ve watched several of your tutorials! My question was about perspective matching, so I can model something like this. Nothing tricky about the topology, but I don’t know how to match the grid orthogonal angle to the photo. Which I can do in Blender, but would prefer not to have to.

I use the wallpaper command for that type of work, then change the camera lens length to match the photo.
there is a command called perspective match, but it’s kinda janky IMO..
Oh wow, thank you! I didn’t realize it was that easy, because of all the people who don’t seem to know about it. What does “perspective match” do that wallpaper doesn’t; or perhaps I should ask, what other features do you think are still needed in Rhino?
wallpaper is just a way to drop an image in the background that is not affected by the rotation of the camera.
Perspective match is a way of automatically matching the camera to the image. But…as I said before it’s pretty janky and could use a significant tune up.
