Can anyone suggest how to model the shape/panel shown in the attached image using Rhino 3D or Grasshopper? Any guidance on the workflow or tools to use would be greatly appreciated.

If you need it for rendering, then you can simply use a displacement texture map.
Thank you. I actually need to create the real 3D geometry in Rhino for CNC 3D carving, not just for rendering. Any suggestions on how you would model the basic shape shown in the image would be greatly appreciated.
With dense mesh settings - depending on the level of detail needed - and a good 16-bit displacement map, you can then extract the render mesh and CNC-machine that.
i would recommend to draw the milling paths that represent the wavy-structure - so the millbit will follow the arcs of the revolve or the isocurves of the sweep1.
if you do many of those panels ask your tool-deliverer to shape / grind / sand a millbit that already has a full wave as shape:
depending on the material you might need additional tooling strategiesā¦

Thanks for the suggestion. My initial thought was also to model the shape using a 2-rail sweep, but since the final piece will be CNC carved with a ball nose cutter, Iām looking for the best way to model the surface accurately. The image quality is quite poor, so any suggestions on the modeling approach would be appreciated.
where do you stuck in the modelling process ?

for the milling - do a testpiece like 200x200mm and post the result for feedback.

The surfaces in the image appear to have hand made variation, or was 3d modeled to āfakeā hand made variation. Is the variation important?
The variation is not that important, but if it can be modeled, it would help achieve a more natural look. I need to recreate the panel in Rhino for CNC carving. What modeling approach would you recommend?
I donāt use grasshopper, but I have followed enough discussion about it to think there could be an effective solution for the variation. Or, as @Lagom suggests, a displacement map where the variation could be built into the image and used to modify a mesh.
If you can take a few liberties to make it work thenā¦
Import the source image.
Scale to full size.
Create a center-line spline from each āzoneā by using the multiple points tool with the curve thru points tool, run these long to facilitate the runoff for the cnc.
Refine the line with rebuild tool, degree 3 and reduce to as few points as you can tolerate.
Use the offset tool and then the trim/extend tool (remember to keep extra for the bull nose run off).
The source is a little rough so youāll end up fixing alignments on some areas, but GIGOā¦
