Millepede results interpretation

Hello. As I understood it right, In the SIMP optimization method, which is the mathematical basis of millepede, black pixels ( mesh squares) mean that material here is needed; while white pixels mean that we can get rid of the material there. So, maybe I misunderstood smth, but following the basic logic of SIMP optimization, we need to make black space stiffer ( and may be thicker?) because white space will not undergo any stress.

So and in this tutorial example, I should make thicker black areas. Am I right?
