Middle mouse button pan behaviour (Alt or Shift to rotate)

Greetings (again),

I am noticing that from version 7 to version 8 the behaviour of the middle mouse button has changed. When choosing the pan option, up until version 7 you used Alt to rotate the view, whereas in version 8 you can use both Shift and Alt. Is there an option or some other way to get back to the previous behaviour? (Thanks to my muscle memory, I keep rotating the view when I don’t want to)

Hi Paolo- it looks like there is not a way. So you use Shift -downb- MMB drag, inadvertently now, in V8? Or?

Yes, usually I keep shift pressed making a multi selection, try to pan the view (as I did in v5 and v7), and rotate it instead.
Well, I guess I’ll have to learn not to do it.
