Microphone access from Rhino Mac app?

Hi everyone,

We are building a speech-to-text functionality into Raven, which works fine so far on Windows. On Mac however, it doesn’t.

From what I found the following is the problem:

  1. Rhino (the mac app) doesn’t list microphone as one of the permission it may require from the OS (in a certain .plist file)
  2. When Raven tries to access the microphone, the host rhino app accesses the microphone form the OS
  3. MacOS thinks it’s a threat and force-quits rhino immediately.

Anyone have a workaround for this?

The force-quitting thing is weird. I haven’t investigated much yet, but I suspect this will require an entitlement for Rhino for Mac. If that’s all it is, it shouldn’t be too hard to support. Logged here:

Ok, I think I see the problem and will have a fix in the next RhinoBETA for you to test. Stay tuned.
