Reshape, in collaboration with Noumena and Tropos Laboratory, has organized META MASK, a workshop which will explore computational techniques to create a digital version of a “life mask”.
Since the early years of civilization masks in various forms have played a crucial role in the understanding of what it means to be a human. They permit imaginative experiences of what it is like to be transformed into a different identity. With the use of new technology we want to further pursue this metamorphosis.
We will create a digital version of a “life mask” and use our own faces as inputs to generate a new identity. A Generative Code will enable us to transform and apply shapes with the original data. Use of Rhino 3D + Grasshopper will let us create unique adaptive designs based on a 3D scan. 3D Printing is a technology that perfectly suits the purpose to create one- of-a-kind customised objects."
