Mesh texture looks fuzzy far from origin R8 (and R7)

Are there anything that can be done to improve the quality textures applied to objects that are far from origin?
The mesh draws perfectly, it is only the texture that gets fuzzy. This happens in both V7 and V8.

It makes no difference if the object far from origin is the only one in the file, if the others are hidden, or if they all are visible.

(It is easy to recreate by just making a mesh height field from a gray image and dragging a picture on to it and then move it far)

The object in the left viewports are at location w0,0,0
The object in the right viewports are at location w593500,6642600,0
File is Small Objects Meter
