Mesh or NURBS for 3D printing?

Can it be done with both? Do I need to use one or the other? Which one is better?

Asking solely for 3D printing, Im aware of the differences between each other.

Im currently making a 3d model of a city, which I extracted from google earth using a plugin. Naturally they are all meshes. Do I need to change these to NURBS if I want to 3D print the model?

Meshes are the standard for 3D printing. NURBS objects need to be converted to meshes (.stl format normally) before 3d printing, but this is easily done. So the answer is you can use both.
