Mesh joining issue

Good day. I am unable to join elements when filling holes in meshes using select hole on mesh boundary, and mesh from closed polylines. I get a red joint when checked with show edges. Is this a tolerance issue?. TYIA, JP.

Tolerance should not be a problem for meshes.

Can you send us the model?

temp.stl (670.7 KB)

Looks like there are faces missing with actual holes:

Where did the model it come from?

Here is a report on it:
General information about this mesh:

Mesh has 5 extremely short edges.
Mesh has 38 non manifold edges.
Skipping face direction check because of positive non manifold edge count.
Mesh has 75 pairs of faces that intersect each other.
This can cause problems if you’re doing mesh boolean operations with it.

Mesh has 1089 naked edges. Naked edges can cause problems if the ultimate goal is STL output.

Thank you. I’ve been filling the holes, but the pieces wont join. Even though the patches are derived from the holes edge.

Using Fill mesh hole? Is there a specific hole that is giving a problem?

I have no issues filling the holes. Just cant get the repairs to join. T

I was creating an edge using the duplicate hole boundary. Then creating a mesh from that to fill the hole. Darn thing is they won’t join to the main mesh, I still get a red line on the intersection.

Thanks Scott, JP.

If it is an open edge at the bottom of a hole, then no need to duplicate hole boundary, just pick the edge.

If the fill is meant to cap off an existing hole, then the closing mesh will not join as that would create a non-manifold condition
