When I merge this edge here, I don’t see why it has to affect the green rail with history:
Only the two edges affected should get a new ID, the rest should stay identical so as to not mess with history. Something like geometric proximity matching should be performed in the background on the trim edges.

Edges don’t have ID’s unfortunately, only an index:
I know Mikko has been working on that and it has improved for some cases. I’ll ask if something can be done for cases like these as well.

@eobet there is a fix for this in the latest internal 8.15, let me know if you want to test this.
Sure, I’m going to have to raise the ceiling height on that part anyway next week so that might be a good test.
