Perhaps everybody knows this, but with a valid Rhino 8 license, you can also download a Rhino 7 installer, install v7, and run v7.
I see it from day 1… What can I say.
Do you know what does running v7 on a Silicon board means, or not?
With a full Rhino 8 license yes, not if upgraded from 6 or before. I don’t see however why you are mentioning it in this thread.
Sorry sorry, maybe I’m misunderstanding something
What did you understand that we didn’t?
I’m a Windows user and don’t know about Mac silicon. People around me who purchased v8 are a bit frustrated because v7 was stable. But we can keep using v7 until v8 is finally stable. I thought you were frustrated, too, because v7 was working well on MAC. But it seems it was not (am I right?). If v7 was garbage on it, this v8 is a big progress, so why so harsh?
Have you tried running _Reset
? Save your settings so they can be shared with tech, then choose to do a factory reset.
Of course if you have lots of UI customizations then you probably want to save those out for yourself as well…
So why are you talking?
Rhino 7 simply does not run natively on post-2020 Macs.
No, I try to avoid Reset since I customised everything inside v8, and as I read people complaining about not being able to restore custom containers and toolbars, I’m a little bit afraid…
Though I’m not very fluent in English, I sense an offensive/aggressive/rude/rough tone in your language, not only from this thread but from many of the threads you started.
OK.
Thanks for your precious and pertinent contributions to the thread.
@the_eraser it might be interesting still to run _Reset, and hit that “save settings for support” button and send the resulting zip. Then at least we can see if the issue is in your settings or not.
+Yah, I totally get that. It is one of the reasons I haven’t bothered to customize Rhino actually.
But I do wonder if there is something in your settings that cause some part of your problems. @Gijs what is the best way to get hold of the complete settings without having to do a _Reset
?
edit: nvm, I just now see @Gijs ’ response. @Gijs, so run _Reset
, save settings, then press cancel to not reset. Correct?
Grab the files manually, but really the easiest way is to run _Reset and then use the button to save out the settings in that dialog. You don’t need to actually perform the reset itself.
