Materials in Rhino Render

Hey,

I got a Rhino file from our supplier, and the materials in the render view look like this. I guess the pink means there is a texture missing -how do I replace it to get the diamond effect?

Hi @Eszter_SMid
Without seeing the file or a view of the actual material parameters, it is pretty hard to guess exactly what is going on, but yes, there are probably one or more textures missing. If the material is set up as an actual diamond material with the right transparency, IOR etc., you should be able to just delete the missing texture(s) from the material editor, but if the missing texture(s) are UV-mapped onto the stones, it might be very different from the intended look. Post a file and/or material if you want more detailed help.

Hey Jakob, thank you for your input. Here is the file

Hi @Eszter_SMid
Yeah, those are indeed textures missing from Matrix. If you have Matrix installed yourself, you can try and re-assign the correct materials from their library. If not, either have the supplier send you the relevant files or replace the materials with Cycles’ materials - here’s what the standard Gem/Diamond material looks like. I don’t know much about jewelry rendering, but I know that Cycles doesn’t support things like dispersion and abbe number, so no super realistic diamonds - this is about as good as it gets.
