Mapping flat 3d texture onto a round object


Apologies upfront as I am a complete newbie.
I am trying to map/bend a 3d texture (flat on one side, 3d texture on the other) onto a cylinder.
The result should still be a cylinder with a rough surface where I joined the two objects.
The surface texture is imported as OBJ.

Thx in advance for any tips.

You can probably make UV Curves from the cylinder, move the texture geometry in position and then flow along surface.
