Manipulating the shape of a curve w/o changing its overall length

Imagine that you have drawn a line of a specific length and you turn on its control points and manipulate its shape… is there any way to keep the overall length of the line from changing?

you may try _FixedLengthCrvEdit

What a weird command. Never knew it existed. Without preserving both endpoints, I don’t really see the use… but still, cool!

I know it sound strange but in the film industry when we’re designing sets we often have to lay out a backdrop in Top View of a certain length. Let’s say it’s 80’ long. That backdrop could be flat, or it could be curved at the ends, or it could be layed out in the shape of an arc. Whatever it’s shape is, the 80’ dimensions has to be locked.

The FixedLengthCrvEdit did it! Thank you @Jess!
