Make2d section issue

Hello, I have set everything (i think) up to create 2d of a section on rhino. I added the cutplane and can see the section i can see what its cutting and everything looks good. Yet when I type in make2d and select the object I’m not getting a 2d of the section cut, I am either getting an elevation or like 3 lines and not the actual shape. I feel like I have tried all the combinations for the make2d settings but am apparently missing something cause its not working (obviously). Clipping plane intersections is selected so what’s the issue?

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this that would be great, when I google it, it says to do everything I’ve already done so I’m a bit stuck.

Could you share this 3dm file? you can upload it from here if it is a big file.

Please give it a try with ClippingDrawings, Please note that the placement of the ClippingDrawing should be within the visible area of the current viewport’s ClippingSection.

@jessesn By the way… How does one disconnect/bake/explode a Clipping drawing from the plane? So it does not update anymore…

Unlock the layer it resides on, then duplicated it, and utilize HistryPurge to clear its history recorder.

@jessesn Is duplication a critical step?

No, I do not think so if you do not move the ClippingSection any more.

@jessesn
@rajaa I think there’s a need for an explicit disentangle/disassociate command here that severes the connection between a plane and a drawing.

Ok, thank you. That worked but is there a way to also show what is behind that, so like a section view, not a slice.

You can achieve it with AddBackground and Projection options of ClippingDrawings,

AddBackground [Yes|No]

Projection [Parallel|Perspective]

@Toni_Osterlund,
Are you looking for this command: ExtractClippingSlices.
You can extract the section and remap to the top view/cplane with RemapCPlane.

If not, send more details and an example work flow.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Fugier
