make2D on big mesh, ESC causes Server busy

I have a large architectural model that I need a 2D drawing in top-c-plane. (In Rhino 7)
But when I hit ESC to cancel the process I get the “Server busy” error. What can cause this?
Oh, and I cant get out of the loop, so I have to kill Rhino from the Task Manager.

I also tried extracting all the rendermeshes (all was meshes to begin with, but in some blocks) and join it up into one 2M poly mesh, but that doesn’t change anything.

I am testing Rhino 8 for this now, but then I thought: Is it possible to extract the technical display lines from topview into Rhino, or do I have to set up a layout and print it to a PDF and then import it back in?

Edit: In Rhino 8 I can ESC the process by the way.

By the way, I did that and the result is great. There were some strange hatches that came along that I had to delete, and after joining all curves and deleting all shorter than 10cm I am good to go. (I inserted the pdf and then scaled it with project on by snapping to the 3D geometry and then exploded the block to speed up the transformation process. I could have imported, converted to block, scaled and moved and exploded that to of course)

Wish:
If there isn’t a “project technical view to c-plane make2D alternative” then I strongly suggest you make that. It would be great. Thanks!
