MacOS: Drag DWG File onto Rhino Dock Icon?

This might be more of an OS question, but:

I like to use Rhino to open, view, and edit DXF/DWG CAD files. It works great. I can drag and drop a file onto an open Rhino viewport and it will open the DWG in a new Rhino file. This is great.

But: if Rhino isn’t open yet, I would like to drag the CAD file onto the Icon in the MacOS Dock and have it open, just like I can with 3dm files. Is it possible to set that up somehow? Is that a Rhino thing, or a MacOS thing do you think?

Environment:

  • MacOS Sequoia 15.6
  • Rhino Version 8 (8.25.25294.11002, 2025-10-21)

thanks!

Of course it’s a MacOS thing…

Just hold Cmd+alt while dragging your file on the Rhino icon

And for next time: google is your friend.
