Does anyone know if there is a version of Lunchbox that works in Rhino 8 in which Excel Reader LEGACY still works? The latest version has dropped that component, and I have dozens of instances of it in my work.
They work happily in Rhino 7 with Lunchbox 2020 6.30.0 but my massive project fails in Rhino 8 because of this one component/
I would use Pancake Excel Reader/Writer, until Lunchbox releases Rhino 8 version:

I only need to read, not write.
I’d prefer to use Rhino 7 rather than rebuilding my entire project, but thanks, I’ll take a look at Pancake and see if it works the way I need something to.

Well I guess, you can just use the Pancake Read Excel components 
. Without using the Write components.
Lunchbox and all other grasshopper “Excel capabilities” plugins are built on top of Excel Interop library. It’s know to be slow, prone to registry issues, and requires Microsoft Excel to be installed. Google this forum, and you will see so many “Interop error” topics.
Pancake’s NPOI library beats all the three mentioned (faster, no issues with Windows registry, no Microsoft Excel installation required). Based on this, in my humble opinion, this is the best Grasshopper Excel plugin.
Just my two cents on the issue.
Is it still an Alpha version with bugs?
Not sure really. I tried it end of last year, and haven’t had issues. But then again, maybe you have different requirements for your .gh files.
