I’m willing to consider the possibility that I’ve SOMEHOW inadvertantly set SOME mystery setting that prevents changing material properties of a surface, but I’m NOT able to find what it might be.
I can now no longer change the Material Setting of a simple open plane OR a Closed Polysurface (yes, RH-5 - RH-6 is PAINFULLY SPEED-BUMP-FULL ) in EITHER the Materials Properties area OR by using MatchProperties “command” .
This is a NEW BEHAVIOR, as I have only TODAY encountered this new behavior.
The ONLY “change” was to the new NV-GTX1060/6Gb Video card about 6 weeks ago, but as this is BRAND NEW since then, its VERY unlikely to be connected to that.
I AM aware that an OpenGL change has been made that requires “New Drivers”, but as the ONLY drivers NVIDIA offers for THAT card were finalized in 2016, (Believe me, THAT’s the LATEST they show - I checked THEIR SITE TODAY) and that Win-10 AS EXPECTED plays “nice” with ALMOST NOTHING, but as I’m running Win-7/64-PRO for this exact AND similar reasons, this SHOULDN’T be the problem with another issue I’m facing relative to Image saves via BONG, mentioned in another thread.
Guys, PLEASE delay any more “improvements” for AFTER some level of STABILITY has been achieved, and PLEASE don’t remove backwards compatibility because somehow it offends your personal sensibilities as being "OLD" ? Thanks !
hi !
I THOT I’d mentioned I was running in RH-5, as RH-6 is WAY too speed-bumpy right now, ESPECIALLY with the new “improvements” to the Rendered Viewport, RAYTRACED and OpenGL all not well handled, and backwards compatibility eschewed for “newness” .
ALL of them - the components - are “reluctant” . I handed you guys a file. It was an export of some sample components, but the whole assembly is affected, so I’m pretty confident its not a component problem.
I’m abandoning a day’s work as unusable, and am dropping back to a version I last had success with. I’ll let you know if that helps or not. I MAY play with returning ALL settings to default, altho THAT’s never a preferred option … . We’ll see, and I’ll share - as always.
John- do I use a link to attach a model file or do I just drag it in like PICs I’ve shared in the past ? Thanks !
Yeah, thot so, and I’d-a thot he’d-a known that too :=) !
Thanks, but running into some RELATED but far more serious RH-Visuals problems. NOT sure when I can get back to this one. I promised to post answers here since I seem to discover more answers to my questions than support providers … , but not sure when I’m going to be able to return to this one.
As a side-note, I did INDEED end up abandoning what EVENTUALLY became a day-and-a-HALF of LOST REVENUE, and moved on to a different aspect of the assignment …
