Hi Everyone, I am using boundingboxes as I always have, yet im having this issue where the boundingbox is ‘adding’ to the extent of the item im trying to bound. I am not using any plugins or anything outside the default version of rhino 8 I have attached an image. There seems to be an added couple of inches to the x dimension of the box. The item being bounded is a polysurface that is isolated with no group, block or any extraneous geometry. I’ve exploded the polysurface and rebuilt it, rejoined it and still same issue.
Maybe there’s a vertical line somewhere all the way at the right side of your drawing?
The gumball seems to be in the center of the light grey object.
Anyway, maybe post a Rhino file…
Nothing in the file except that geometry. Here is the file
Bounding Box Issue.3dm (833.2 KB)
Something’s wrong with this surface.
I retrimmed the surface in Grasshopper and the bounding box looks like this:
What exactly did you do to the surface?
I exploded your polysurface and looked at individual bounding boxes in Grasshopper. I noticed this surface is causing issues. Then I copied it and untrimmed one instance. Retrimmed the untrimmed with the trimmed surface. I tried RefitTrim in Rhino but this didn’t help.
In Rhino the surface can be fixed by duplicating the border and retrimming manually.
Ahhh interesting okay thank you, I have never used untrim so thank you!
When you have a trimmed surface and both gumball and bounding box don’t fit, I’d say it’s almost certain there must be something wrong with the trim.
Thanks Martin and Cameron -
I’ve put that object on the list to take a closer look at
