I wondered what the difference between adding multiple loads to the PointL input of a single load case component compared to using a load case for every load that we have is?

If you added, say, two loads to a single load case then the solution will be the minimum volume structure that can support both loads, assuming that these are applied simultaneously.

Alternatively, if you added the first of these loads to load case 1 and the second to load case 2 then the solution will be the minimum volume structure that can support either load, assuming that these are NOT applied simultaneously.

For an example of this see Fig. 16 of this paper.

For this case you could also consider adding a third load case that includes both loads - this would ensure the generated structure is capable of carrying either one of the loads, or both applied simultaneously.
