In this beginner-friendly course, you’ll learn how to create and extract technical drawings from 3D models in Rhinoceros, an essential skill for effective communication in design, architecture, and engineering. The course will cover everything you need to know about setting up scales, dimensions, annotations, lineweights, and linetypes to transform your 3D models into clear and professional technical drawings.
The course is led by Agata Kycia, an architect and researcher with over 14 years of experience in Rhinoceros. Agata specializes in computational design, digital fabrication, and material science. She earned her doctorate from TU Berlin for research on self-shaping textiles and currently teaches CAD and generative design at the International University.
You will:
- Create a 3D model of a bottle and use Rhino’s Layouts to extract various 2D drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and perspective views.
- Divide complex 3D models into smaller parts to create detailed cutaway sections and exploded-view drawings, ideal for explaining intricate designs.
- Gain valuable skills in generating clear 2D drawings to effectively communicate your ideas, whether you’re working in architecture, design, engineering, or as a hobbyist.
Requirements: No prior experience with Rhinoceros is necessary as this class is designed for beginners. You can use Rhino versions 6, 7, and 8 for the course.
