Layout detail view will not print

I am at a loss…
In one model one of the layout will not print. More specifically the content of the detail view will not print. Object on the layout do print. Here is the Screen view of the layout:

This is what the print looks like:

I tried all the set-up I know with no change…

The other layout works fine…

It is probably something stupid I did…

File too big to load…

Hello - long shot, but - if you make a detail active, does the print width for the layers show No Print?

-Pascal

I am currently having this same problem. Does anybody know what may cause this?
-Joe

I am having the same problem. Can’t figure it out. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi @derek,
This is not a current issue with Rhino.
You can try using the Rhino PDF which is in printer in Rhino for Windows 6 and 7.

If you can not post the file here, please email it to tech@mcneel.com, and include this link:
Layout detail view will not print - #3 by jreilly
and attention Mary Fugier.
We will also need the file and the results of the SystemInfo command (again SystemInfo is a Rhino 6 & 7 command).

Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Fugier

Hi @bmeezy and All,
We received a file from a customer to show us what appears to be the issue you are reporting here.

RH-65184 Details on Locked Layer Do Not Print

To work around this, check the layer that you have your detail assigned to.
Make sure it is not locked, if it is unlock it.

The details assigned to a layer that is unlocked, will print.
You may need to edit your title block to find what layer the details is assigned to.

PrintWidth only makes the detail border not print.
Layer OFF will also keep the entire details and border from printing.

You will be notified here there the bug is fixed and is ready for testing.
Let us know if this information solves your issue.

It turns out the issue was not a bug, but it was related to this setting “show: locked objects” setting in the Print dialog. (Thanks, @stevebaer.)

These settings are saved with the system, so once it becomes uncheck, then it will stay unchecked.

Here is the setting in Windows.

Here is the setting on the Mac.

Once I checked it, the locked details printed.
Can you try this setting and let me know if it resolves your issue?

Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Fugier

Hi, there’s definitely a bug somewhere. In my case, I have a block, that contains a mesh. If the block’s layer is locked, even with “Locked objects” turned on in Rhino PDF print dialog, the mesh doesn’t show up.
The weird thing is, while it does show up in Front view, it doesn’t show up in Top view Details in print (I can see it in the detail view in my Layout viewport, but it just gets ignored during printing). Once the layer is unlocked, it does show up in the printed pdf.

Cheers,
Ivan

Hi Ivan -
I’m unable to reproduce the issue from your description.
For starters, please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the result here.

Hi Ivan -

That looks fine, thanks.
Could you post a simple 3dm file that shows the problem?
-wim

Weird… can’t reproduce it now. It’s definitely been giving me headaches for some time.
Cheers,
Ivan
