Layer manager graphic design issues

Continuing the discussion from Rhino 8 for Mac is a massive regression in UI, UX and function:

I was mostly referring to the visual of this panel. Here is a few points, that i don’t find very useful or well designed.

A - The previous look without vertical borders was much cleaner and saved lot of screen space
B - This gap is way to big and it cannot be reduced by user (again screen space)
C - These wierd colorful icons just duplicatess right button menu + draging. Also most of them are greyed out 99% of time. In the v5 all these functions were inside “gear” menu. The only real innovation I noticed here is the addition of filters.
Keeping the original look and just adding a filter icon would look much better and save a lot of space.

It looks like that padding i on Mac only, I’ll log that as a separate issue:

C is debatable. I find the icons in the top quite useful, and prefer moving layers around with it over dragging them in certain cases.

I understand that this can be a matter of personal preference. I don’t know how difficult it would be, but wouldn’t it be possible to make the icon panel at least more customizable?

Please, could you at least solve the A?! There is really no need for this border. Look how much nicer it looks in V5. This isn’t even helpful for the terrible unification process…

hi @morris it’s on the list to get fixed, but it’s up to the developer to prioritize things, so I cannot give an ETA for when this gets fixed.
