Hi, this plug-in seems like science fiction to me. I work in the footwear industry, and moving a polysurface this way — as I saw in your YouTube videos — seems absurd to me considering Rhino. Is it possible to send you some working files as examples, where I explain what I would like to modify, to find out whether your plug-in is able to do it? I’ll send them by email.

Hi Daniil,

Thank you for reaching out to me after your post on the Rhino forum! Here are the answers to your questions:

1. Testing Your Files Yes, absolutely! Please send your footwear working files to this email. I will personally test them and send you the results to show how Poodle Morph Pro handles it.

2. Try It Yourself (20 Free Uses) At the same time, I highly encourage you to download the plugin and test it yourself! If you install and register this week, you will automatically get 20 free uses (10 basic + 10 launch event bonus). It is quite intuitive, so you might find it very easy to use with your own data.

3. License Type & Payment Method

  • License: It is a Pay-as-you-go system (US$40 per 20 uses), not a perpetual license or monthly subscription.

  • Payment: Please ignore the ‘Buy’ button on Food4Rhino. After installing the plugin, you can register and pay securely inside Rhino by typing the PoodleRegistration command or clicking the Registration icon on the Poodle toolbar (Please refer to the attached screenshot).

I am really looking forward to receiving your files! Let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Poodle Morph Pro Developer

Okay, thank you. Over the next few hours I’ll send you some files that I frequently work with. These usually involve design changes that I currently have to rebuild manually every time a modification is made, whereas in theory your plug-in should make that process almost immediate.

Thanks again, and I’ll keep you updated by email.

hi @Poodlehause9, this plugin looks very useful, and the pricing model is strange so I’m not sure how I could manage using this within a team. I have 2 questions:

  1. Can I have a have central control of the ‘uses count’ so one account owner can pay and be charged for more uses? but my entire team can use it? …because if each of my users have to buy their own, it’s not going to work for us, and probably for many companies.

  2. What qualifies as a single use? If I try the same transform on the same geometry 5 different ways does that count as 5 uses? or 1 use?

Thanks,

Gustavo

[Notice] Correct Installation Method
Please UNZIP the downloaded file and drag the .yak file into the active Rhino window.

Hi Gustavo,

Thank you for the excellent questions. Here are the details regarding your concerns:

1. Current License and Payment Structure Currently, our licenses are strictly tied to individual PCs (HWID). For a team, the manager can simply process the PayPal payment directly on each member’s machine when needed.

2. What counts as a single use? We separate “Preview” and “Bake” so you don’t waste credits while testing:

  • Bake (Final geometry generation): Costs 1 Credit.

  • Preview (Testing different shapes): You can test the same geometry in many different ways safely. Every 20 Previews cost only 1 Credit. So trying 5 different ways will not consume 5 credits.

3. Planning for Team Usage We are currently brainstorming a new pricing plan that significantly increases the number of Bakes to better accommodate professional teams, while maintaining the per-PC license structure.

To help us design a plan that perfectly fits teams like yours, I would love to hear your thoughts:

  • How many members are in your team?

  • Roughly how many Bakes do you estimate one team member would need per month?

Thanks again for your interest. I look forward to your feedback!

Where can I get the toolbar with the icons? I completed the registration, but I haven’t paid yet. The commands still appear when I search for them, but as you can see in the recording, I can’t find the toolbar with the command icons.

Hello Brv,

Thanks for trying out the plugin! To put your mind at ease—the missing icons are not related to your payment status at all. The fact that the commands are working means your installation went perfectly.

Rhino 8 occasionally hides new UI toolbars after a fresh install. Here are two quick ways to fix this:

Option A: Using the Menu

  1. Run the _Toolbar command in Rhino.

  2. Scroll down to find PoodleMorph in the list.

  3. Tick the checkbox to show the UI, and place it wherever you want.

Option B: Restarting If the plugin isn’t on that list, just restart Rhino completely. Sometimes it takes a fresh launch to load the .rui interface file properly.

By the way, as a new user, your account is loaded with 10 Free Bakes and 20 Free Previews, which should be great for testing your shoe models. Keep me updated if this works for you!

Cheers, PoodleMorph Team

Okay, thanks, I found everything. I’ll give you some feedback over the next few days.

Let me give you my personal option: there’s nothing ‘Simply’ about that. If your software is too hard to use for a small team like mine: I’m a company owner also user, no IT department, no finance department, I can buy anything without any explanations, and I can even use paypal. However, for most companies Paypal is a non-starter. So this approach has very low chance of commercial success. And if I see a new tool with low chance of commercial success I start questioning if it’s even worth trying it. Because of this financial viability outlook we skip using most new plugins and software from startups. So my opinion is very biased based on my preference of being conservative when it comes to tool adoption. So pelase ask others too, so you have a more varied point of view of your approach.

Rhino modelers that could use your plugin: 10 people.

No idea, I don’t know how good the results are, and how good the surface quality of your edits will be. But my guess is between 100 - 500 per month. I see this using more for design iteration, instead of cage edit, which is quite limited for complex geometry.

I have no idea how to manage a per-use software license, I personally don’t like that idea, but I’m keeping an open mind.

One thing that could work: McNeel Zoo managed license to control who has access to my company’s license of your software. A centralized way to add credits for that multi-user license, not a per user credit system. But I want to see a price that makes sense for a team that’s using 500-1000 uses a month, because the current pricing might be not right for that, sicn eit will be costing $1000-2000 a month.

I can tell you that all the tools that decided to charge based on a scarcity model, and ask users to pay every time they want to use the tool, endup being software that we just don’t use. And everyone loses. We are olds choll, we like to buy software, adn a few years later, of you made amazing improvements, we buy upgrades. This is why we use Rhino, Bongo, xNurbs, Octane, etc.

I hope this helps,

Gustavo

Hi Gustavo,

Thank you so much for the incredibly realistic and valuable feedback. I am taking your words not just as feedback from a potential customer, but as genuine guidance from a true advisor helping a solo developer find the right path. You completely hit the nail on the head regarding the blind spots of a startup.

To give you some context, I am a solo developer, and Poodle Morph Pro was originally built specifically for springback compensation in automotive press die engineering. In that industry, morphing is used very sparingly at the very end of the design process. That is why the pay-per-use (credit) model seemed appropriate to me at the time.

I am honestly amazed and thrilled by the unexpected interest from the footwear and broader design industries! Because I didn’t anticipate these use cases, I completely overlooked the fact that design workflows require constant iterations and frequent baking. You are absolutely right—the current credit system does not fit your team’s needs and would only cause hesitation to use the tool.

I will take your sincere advice to heart and deeply rethink the enterprise pricing model. I am currently reviewing a transition to a floating seat (concurrent user) model with fixed-term contracts, as well as introducing standard corporate payment methods.

In the meantime, I want your team to be able to test the plugin thoroughly without worrying about credits. If your team members register their accounts and you send me a message with their details, I will manually upgrade all of their accounts from the default 10 free bakes to 30 free bakes.

Thank you again for your genuine advice and for helping me see the bigger picture!

@gustojunk I agree with you on this point.
@Poodlehause9 Try to think about changing the subscription model from a credit-based system to an annual subscription, similar to Cyberstrak, which offers both an annual subscription and, for a higher price, a perpetual license.

Even though I intend to try your command, I don’t think I could use it in the long term. You have to consider that a model approved today can change the very next day depending on what the designer wants. On top of that, I need to apply the same modification to multiple sizes of the same model: 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, not to mention half sizes.

In practice, I would run out of credits almost immediately, and they might not even be enough. I work on the same model multiple times because I may modify a sole in a certain way, but that same sole then needs to fit two different lasts, which effectively doubles the amount of modification work.

For me, a credit-based system is very limiting and expensive. I would probably end up spending €4,000–€5,000 per month, which is simply unthinkable in my case.

Take a look at plug-ins such as XNurbs, which I use frequently, or Cyberstrak. They are important tools, but they are reasonably priced, and that’s one of the reasons why they are widely adopted. If your plug-in ends up costing more than Rhino itself, or as much as buying a Rhinoceros license, then no matter how impressive or useful the command may be, it will eventually be forgotten.

This is my honest opinion.

Hi @brvdln,

First of all, thank you so much for your deep interest and incredibly honest feedback. I completely agree with your point about the repetitive nature of design work, especially in shoe modeling.

Here is our plan regarding your feedback:

  • Current Consideration: We are actively reconsidering our pricing structure based on the voices of professionals like you.

  • New Subscription Model & Pricing: We are completely replacing the current “Credit-based” system with an “Unlimited Time Subscription”. We are preparing various options including 1-Day ($5), 1-Month ($40), 3-Month ($100), and 1-Year ($400) licenses. This means you can run the morphing engine infinitely during your subscription period without any pressure.

  • New Payment Methods: To make the purchasing process smoother, we are setting up dedicated payment systems. We will support PayPal for individual professionals, and Bank Transfer (SWIFT) with formal PDF invoices for B2B corporate teams.

  • Your Thoughts: What are your thoughts on this new unlimited approach and the pricing options? I would love to hear if this aligns better with your workflow.

  • Sufficient Free Credits: In the meantime, while we are updating our system, please do not worry about the cost. Upon request, I will manually add more than enough free credits so you can fully test it.

Please take your time to thoroughly test the morphing quality on your models, and let me know your honest feedback on the performance!

Best regards, Poodle

Hi @gustojunk,

Thank you for your continued support and the valuable insights we’ve discussed. I wanted to give you a quick update regarding the pricing model!

Based on the feedback from industry professionals like you, we are completely replacing the current “Credit-based” system with an “Unlimited Time Subscription”.

Here is what we are preparing:

  • New Subscription Pricing: We will offer various options including 1-Day ($5), 1-Month ($40), 3-Month ($100), and 1-Year ($400) licenses. This will allow you to run the morphing engine infinitely during your subscription period without any pressure.

  • New Payment Methods: To make the process smoother, we are setting up dedicated payment systems supporting PayPal for individual professionals, and Bank Transfer (SWIFT) with formal PDF invoices for B2B corporate teams.

  • Sufficient Free Credits: In the meantime, while we are fully updating our system and payment methods, please do not worry about the cost. Upon request, I will manually add more than enough free credits so you can fully test it on your actual workflow without any limitations.

I am very excited about this change and would love to hear your thoughts on this new unlimited approach!

Best regards, Poodle

Hi Poodle,

Maybe un confused, but your “Unlimited Time Subscription” seems to be more like “Unlimited use, limited to a single user? (or a single computer?) for a limited time subscription of 1 year, renewable yearly”

So, in my case, 10 users, so we can all use your software from any of our computers (some users have 1 computer, some users have 2 computers): how much will this cost me after 1 year? 5 years? 10 years?

Thanks,

G

Hi @gustojunk,

Thank you for sharing your perspective so clearly. You make a very valid point, and I completely understand your concern.

If we look at it from the standard Rhino plug-in ecosystem, the cumulative cost of a subscription over 5 or 10 years, especially for a multi-user studio, can certainly feel expensive compared to a perpetual license. Your calculation is absolutely correct.

To give you a bit of context on our end, our pricing is benchmarked against the value provided by high-end engineering systems (like CATIA). Our goal with Poodle is to deliver that exact level of industrial precision and morphing performance directly within Rhino. To continuously maintain, update, and support this high-level algorithm, we concluded that a subscription model is the most sustainable approach for our development.

While we plan to maintain the subscription policy itself, we will definitely take some more time to carefully reconsider the exact pricing based on your valuable feedback. I deeply respect your opinion and completely understand that every studio has a different software ecosystem and budget structure.

I don’t want this difference in perspective to stop you from experiencing the tool. As I mentioned before, please let me know when you are ready. I would be more than happy to provide you and your team with enough free credits/time so you can test it thoroughly in your actual workflow. Let’s see if the time saved and the quality achieved justify the model for you.

Thank you again for your honest and constructive feedback!

Best regards, Poodle

Poodle, You are doing the right thing. You are testing your market, and figure out who is your customer. And who isn’t.

Your positioning as a CATIA-level software, or CATIA association tells me you are aiming to a different market than some/most of us.

We use: Rhino, Bongo, Xnubs, Octane, Blender, Plasticity, Solidworks, a bit of Fusion 360. Adobe, (slowly being replaced by Affinity). Look at their licensing models and pricing.

We don’t use: CATIA, NX, Alias, Onshape. Look at their licensing models and pricing.

re: testing it anyway. No need for us to test software we can’t afford. It’s not a good use of our time.

One final thought: Keeping alive your charging per usage you had originally (1 credit per commit, 1/5th credit per preview) maybe makes sense. This might be the only way to prove its value for us, if you can figure out how to let anyone in my team run it with a single admin credentials. I mean based on this:

I’m out. you need to talk with other people. I don’t want to be your only/main voice of customers.

Best luck on this new endeavor!

Gustavo
