Incredible work on V9 Beta — absolutely loving it! I’ve been using it as my main tool for a while now.
This morning I fired it up after the latest update, and to my surprise Rhino had been reset to its factory settings. I had to re-import all my settings and recalibrate everything to match my workflow again.
Yes, yes… I know. It’s a beta, you bozo.
Still, it was a seriously time-consuming task during a busy morning, and I was pulling my hair out over the time I lost.
Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else runs into the same thing.
Good news — you may not have had to redo all that. When Rhino resets to factory (or you run Reset yourself), it doesn’t just wipe the old setup, it makes a backup of your settings first. So what you lost this morning is very likely still sitting on disk.
Your live settings-Scheme__Default.xml is there along with a backup copy from the reset. Close Rhino, swap the good one back in, restart.
Going forward use OptionsExport — run it any time your setup is dialed in and it writes everything to a single file. After an update or reset just OptionsImport that file and you’re back in seconds instead of an hour.
