Latest mac update causes crashing

Version 6 (6.25.20084.08062, 2020-03-24)

Opening files suddenly takes a really long time, and once finally open even the simplest of commands causes the program to become unresponsive. I’ve had to force quit every time I’ve tried to do anything, even in brand new files. Is it possible to roll back an update on Mac or do I have to uninstall and reinstall?

Hi, on the Mac, you can install as many versions as you want at the same time. Just make sure to rename the icon so that it doesn’t get overwritten by a different version that you are installing. I have about 30 versions installed at all times so that I can easily go back to any to check for the occurrence of a bug.

That said - going back to a previous version might solve this issue for you now but won’t get it fixed. Could you run the Rhino SystemInfo command in the 6.25 version and copy-paste the result here?
-wim

Hi Wim, thanks for your response, I’ll try downloading the previous version again. I’ve run the SystemInfo command, the results are as follows:

Thanks! Which version were you running previously and have you tried installing that again?
-wim

I was running the previous release before, I’ve just been updating as soon as new versions come out. Until now this was not causing any problems, but I noticed a huge difference when I did this latest update and haven’t really been able to use Rhino since. I’ll try installing the previous release again today

Hi Wim, I’m sorry but could you briefly explain how to install an old version (6.24 I guess)? I’ve currently got the Evaluation version. When I click on downloads it doesn’t give me any options to download a previous version

Hi Katja - it looks like you are running release Candidates and so the previous one would have been 6.24.20078.12382.

It’s correct that you don’t get the option to download a previous one and if you have deleted that from your download folder, the only way to get to older versions is to come and ask here.
Here’s the link to that version: http://files.mcneel.com/rhino/6/mac/releases/rhino_6.24.20078.12382.dmg
