Hi, I’m looking for laptop suggestions. I’m a jewelry designing student. And I haven’t started learning rhino just yet. But I’m going to soon. Before that I’d like to invest in a laptop. But I’m very confused with so many options. Is it better to invest in a 2 in 1 laptop which is pretty popular these days? Or are those not worth it? And I can just invest in a heavy gaming laptop?
Thanks.

Start with this:
I use a heavy gaming 17" laptop when I work from home. I do have it connected to a larger screen for my daily work. If I need it at the jobsite the 17" screen comes in handy. That does make it quite a bit heavier. I’m in the architectural field, not really sure how this relates to jewelry industry.
You should prioritise a powerful CPU and GPU (the higher the clock speed per core and more cores, the better). The only considerable bottleneck is the amount of boolean operations (prong-shank union, subtract cutters…), I think this runs on the CPU in Rhino. If you are also going to render, that runs on the GPU.
For this budget I would recommend you to go for HP Envy 16 Designer Laptop. It costs just around $900. It comes with a 14core i7 processor which is far above basic requirements for Cad applications. It also comes with 16GB RAM and 1Tb SSD. You get a DGPU of RTX 4060 which is enough for any 3D based rendering. I hope that this helps future viewers of this topic.
